My child has discovered the toilet and toilet paper. She pretends to blow her nose and then puts it in the toilet... over and over again.

Everclear in Aspen

Got a babysitter last night and went to Everclear with my friends - the concert was outside at the base of Aspen mountain. We were in the front row for most of the time and for their last song they pulled up a whole bunch of girls and sang Jenny (867-5039). I couldn't believe we actually got called up on stage - it was such a fun concert! I love going to concerts that bring back memories with my friends but then to actually make a better memory - what more could you ask for. So fun!!!!

Ornament Update

Holiday Show

My friend Jen and I had some of our crafty things in a local Holiday Show. I sold some of my handmade journals and some Gocco pinecone cards. Jen made some handmade journals, the two felted boxes, the felt bags that are hanging on the front of the pedestal and some Gocco cards too. Here is our display.

Well, I did hear back from Rag and Bone and unfortunetly, I didn't make the cut. That's okay though - maybe next time. I hope they publish the designs they chose soon. I would love to see them. How does one get better at designing patterns? Are there books -do you go back to school - are you just born with it?

I am half way done with my ornament swap. I have been sewing and stuffing like mad. I think they are turning out really cute. Maybe I will make some for our family tree in December - when I am not so busy with deadlines.

I just got my list of names for the ornament swap. I am really excited for this swap but I couldn't be busier at this time of year. I am on a huge deadline at work and I have also signed up to participate in a local Holiday show. So I will be making lots of things over the next couple of weeks.

For my ornament I think I am going to make little felt birdies with cute stitching and buttons.

Rag and Bone bindery just had a call for artists. I saw the call on the print and pattern blog. Rag and Bone are looking to expand their cover paper options to include some modern and contemporary designs. Well, I sent off my design submission and now I am waiting - very anxiously in fact. I hope they at least pick on of my designs. I would be so happy. Here are two of the designs I submitted. I submitted four others that are more geometric. But, I am having trouble uploading those to blogger.

1st Birthday

Such a good 1st birthday - pool party with friends and family. Two cakes: chocolate cake and a lego cake. Snowmass Village has a Labor Day Jazz Festival so we took Reese to her first concert that night - which happened to be Don Henley. Super fun weekend altogether.

I think September is my favorite month in Snowmass. The aspen leaves all turn yellow, the weather is so pleasant and work is quiet again. I took a picture of this poppie the other day and thought it was lovely with the sunlight hitting its petals.

Reese is turning 1 on Sunday. What a trip!

Working Mom and Baby

Due to the lack of daycare Reese has been coming to work with me 3 days a week for the past month. We have one more month to hash out before she can get in so my parents will be here next Thursday to help out. Thankfully, I haven't had any breakdowns and things have been going relatively smooth. Part of my job at work is to run around and take photos of people and events - so Reese is getting a lot of time in front of the camera. I think she might like it a little too much :)

Food & Wine

I don't know if any of you watched Top Chef on Bravo TV last season - but I was a total fanatic. Harold won "Top Chef" and as part of winning the show - Bravo sent him to Food & Wine in Aspen.

Food & Wine is a 3 day event that is filled with wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and special events. I got a chance to go to one of the Grand Tastings on Saturday - it is a 2 hour event with all kinds of food, wine, liquor, beer, etc... I knew that Harold was in Aspen so I was totally on the lookout. I spotted him at the end of the tasting and in my buzzed state I asked him for a photo. I don't think he was really into being in the spotlight so I kind of felt like a stalker. Sorry Harold - I don't know what came over me!

BackTack Kitty has arrived! Ashley totally spoiled me. Along with Kitty she sent me loads of fabric remnants, buttons and embroidery thread! Thank you so much - I was so surpised. Kitty has a wonderful new home and is getting along with everyone. I love the little red flowers along the side of her head.

Reese gets her first little taste of sugar. Maybe not such a good idea - but I couldn't resist.

We are back from S.F. We spent three nights in the city and two nights up north near Santa Rosa.

Food related activities included: Dim Sum in China Town at New Asia restaurant. Really fun and filling. Reese slept through the whole experience and woke up just as we were leaving! Good baby :) Dinner at Tsunami on Divisidero - a great little sushi restaraunt. Lots of other babies for Reese to talk to. The Golden Chopstick on 18th and Balboa. Huge portions & cheap prices.

Non food related activities included: The Flower Conservatory and Chinese Tea Garden in the Golden Gate Park. Tour of S.F. from Great Grandma Good. Wedding. Visiting friends and family.

My backtack kitty should be here on Monday. I will post some pics when she arrives.

BackTack Kitty is done :) I am sending her out in the mail tomorrow. I am also leaving for California for five days. I am looking forward to Dim Sum in San Francisco on Friday - I can't stop thinking about it really. I had so much fun participating in BackTack. I hope Sharon likes her!

Last week I came into my office to a desk full of birthday surprises! From my friend at cafecrafty I got three great fabrics and one of her knitting sock bags. I also got a new Japanese amigurumi book, some yummy smelling coffee and some fun paper goods. Thanks friends :)

BackTackIII Kitty

Here is BackTack Kitty in the works. I was sewing kitty over the weekend and I sewed part of her body inside out! I always seem to do something like that. Luckily it is so easy to cut a new one out and start over.

Originally, I thought I would use the wine colored felt as my accent color but now I want to use something brighter. I really want to use some yellow. The wine seems a little conservative and boring. I haven't figured out where to put all the buttons either. I might make her a little collar to wear.

Pointy Kitty in a very clean office

Well pointy kitty is almost done! I have to sew the buttons on for her eyes and embroider her whiskers. I think I should have stuffed her front legs a little more - she has a very heavy head and it is hard for her to keep it up :)

My boss told me to clean my office. (i.e. get all of the baby crap out) So yesterday I decided to paint my office (it looks like a Robins egg blue) and now I am freaking out because I have so much work to do. Of course I took everything out and piled it up outside my door and now I have no motivation to put it back in. What have I done?! I don't have time to sort through all that stuff. Why did I decide to paint?

Green Pointy Kitty

Here is my first attempt at pointy kitty. It went really well considering I don't sew that often. My hubby bought me a sewing machine about 2 years ago - and some of my friends have used it more than I have. I am excited to attach the head to the body and put the rest of kitty together.

Here is the fabric I bought for my BackTack Kitty. The felt is a wine color. I might buy some more black and white fabric later - we will see how things come together.

I can't believe it has been so long since I blogged. I am so embarrassed.

I just got my matchup for BackTackIII. I am really excited to start my softie. I am going to go shopping this weekend for fabric. I will post some pics.

Lately, I have been trying to crochet some Amigurumi's from a Japanese Amigurumi book I bought on ebay. So far I have all the parts to a little bear that I need to assemble now. I hope I have interpreted the book right.

Well, the little peanut is crawling around on the floor at work and getting into trouble - more later.

Sleeping through the night!

This is my first blogging experience - I am so excited.

I just put my 5 1/2 month old to bed. She really hates to go to sleep! I don't think she can stand the thought of missing anything.

All I want in life right now is a solid nights sleep. So my technique lately is to feed her lots of oatmeal and organic gerber baby food before bed and hope for the best. Last night was wonderful - my peanut slept until 8am! I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I am finally starting to feel like my old self again. I hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Today I went skiing. My husband built an igloo on the mountain - so I went to check it out. I was so impressed. It took him and 4 of his friends 6 1/2 hours to build. You crawl through a tunnel and when you get inside there is room enough for about 6 people on this ledge. Way cool. What a great day!
